The Royal Fleet Auxiliary Service (RFA) is a civilian manned fleet, owned by the Ministry of Defence. The primary role of the RFA is to supply the Royal Navy at sea with the food, fuel, ammunition and spares it needs to maintain operations away from its home ports. It also provides aviation support for the Royal Navy, together with secure sea transport and amphibious support for Army units and their equipment.
